History
The fishing season in Patagonia begins on October 1st and ends on May 31st, this period covers the seasons of spring, summer and fall. In the Area of bariloche, there are some lakes where fishing is allowed all the yar round. The species that we find in our rivers and lakes are: Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Brook Trout, and landlocked salmon, also Patagonian Perch, the latter is indigenous.
In Spring, the rivers and lakes are at their highest level from snow melt. Early season weather is highly variable, from November 1st to late December, but fishing is exceptional! Anglers use nymphs and streamers and eventually dry flies as hatches increase.
If you come in high summer, late December to early March, the weather is very mild, and fishing is mostly on the surface at first and then gradually trout start looking for depth and shade.
In fall, we start using big streamers in Limay river, because big Brown Trout come from Nahuel Huapi lake to start their reproductive cycle. Because of the colors of the forest, the mist and the calm days a camera should not be forgotten during this season.
